Low or No Cost Ways to Spoil Your Carolina Dad

June 12, 2017

Happy Father’s Day! You can spoil your Carolina dad, even if you don’t have a ton of money, with low or no-cost experiences you can also enjoy with the kids...

Pedal in the City
Hop on a borrowed bike and join dad for a cycling tour of the Queen City. A 24 hour pass from Charlotte B-cycle costs just $8.

Paddle the Blueway
The South Fork River Blueway starts at Spencer Mountain and continues downriver to the Town of Cramerton.  Along the way, visitors can enjoy paddling through over 1,300 acres of permanently-protected land by the Catawba Lands Conservancy. You can rent canoes, kayaks and paddleboats at Floyd and Blackies Coffee Shop in Cramerton.  Their location sits right on the South Fork River.

Fishing or Horseshoes
There's something for every dad at Hornets Nest Park including a lake perfect for fishing, disc golf, horseshoes and BMX track competitions.

Take Him Out to the Ballgame
If Charlotte Knights tickets are too pricey, for about $8 he can watch the Gastonia Grizzlies or Forest City Owls!

Horsing Around
TIEC horse shows featuring riders from around the globe and there is no admission fee. From jumping and dressage to stadium polo, the competitions will keep dad on the edge of his seat. The Tryon International Equestrian Center also features lots of great restaurants for dad to grab a bite to eat and a beer.

Adventure Landing in Charlotte and Gastonia is treating dads to a free round of mini-golf on Father’s Day.

Go For a Swim
From 1:00pm until 6:30pm dads get into Ray’s Splash Planet for free.

Get Artsy
Fathers who are accompanied by their child or children get free admission to the Harvey B. Gantt Center on Father's Day. Take a selfie of you and your children in front of your favorite artwork in the museum, tag the Gantt Center @hbganttcenter, use the hashtag #FatherFiguresatGanttCenter and enter to win an annual Gantt Center Family membership (value $100).
