Dogs Can Recognize A Bad Person, Science Confirms

March 27, 2019

The old saying goes “never judge a book by its cover.” For dogs, they don’t have to. Their senses are much that they can sense when someone is a jerk, according to a study.

A report published in Neuroscience and Biobehavioral Reviews found that dogs are capable of understanding when someone has been mean. One of the studies had participants asking a volunteer to help them open a jar while a dog was present. Some volunteers helped, while some refused.

The volunteers were then asked to try and give the dog a treat. The dog was far more likely to take the treat from volunteers who were passive or nice, and ignored treats from volunteers who were mean.

So if your dog doesn’t take too kindly to certain people, it might be a warning sign that they’re jerks you need to avoid!
