Your Lack of Sleep Is Killing You; Why 5 Hours Is Not Enough For Adults

If you’re an adult and you’re not sleeping all that much, it can do a heck of a number on your health. We've been told all of our lives that sleeping very little (or not at all) is bad for you, but just how bad is it?

Several new studies have come out and they say too little or too much sleep is associated with increased cardiovascular issues such as heart attacks and strokes.

One of the studies tracked men over the course of twenty years and found that sleeping less than five hours a night doubled the risk of heart attack or stroke, and is comparable to the negative effects of smoking or diabetes.

The CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) says that as much as one-third of Americans sleep fewer than seven hours each night.

Seven to nine hours is considered the optimal amount of sleep you need each night.
