August 21, 2017

We’re past the middle of August, but summer isn’t over yet. The summer vacation savings are heating up as tourist destinations are slowing down. Prices are getting more budget friendly at places like Disney and at hotels. Even gas and airfare are costing less so take advantage of it!

  1. Hit the Road: Gas prices are expected to fall in the range of $2.45 to $2.65 per gallon. GasBuddy’s Fuel Price Outlook predicts a nationwide average of $2.55. Pick a spot at you can get to on one tank of gas and your getaway could add up to less than $80 if you have an average sized tank of 15 gallons.
  2. Ride in Style: Not only is fuel cheaper but so are cars. August can be one of the best times of the year to buy a new car. The new model year cars start to hit the lots in the fall. TrueCar says August vehicle transactions tend to have the lowest transaction cost of any time of year. The 31st of the month is historically one of the best days of the year to buy according to U.S. News & World Report.
  3. Go CaribbeanJust because we’re in hurricane season it doesn’t mean you have to avoid the islands. Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands don’t usually have a storm problem this time of year. You don’t even need to have a passport to visit because you’ll still be on Uncle Sam’s turf.
  4. Take a Cruise:  End-of-summer cruise deals can save you 60% or more.
  5. Mickey Mouse Beckons Single day admission at Disney is usually value priced the last two weeks of August. Go Monday through Thursday for $97.
  6. Gear Up for Vacation:  The clearance racks are ripe for the picking...buy sundresses, t-shirts, shorts, swimsuits and sandals for up to 75% off.
