Taraji P. Henson To Host 2017 Black Girls Rock Awards

It's official! Taraji P. Henson will host this year’s Black Girls Rock! Awards. Black Girls Rock! honors black women who are trailblazers, change-makers, and have broken down barriers all while uplifting their communities.

Some of the the honorees include actresses Issa Rae (Star Power Award) and Yara Shahidi (Young Gifted and Black Award), singer Roberta Flack (Living Legend Award), businesswoman Suzanne Shank (Shot Caller Award), as well as Derrica Wilson and Natalie Wilson of The Black & Missing Foundation (Community Change Agent Award).

Taraji says, "I’m honored to host the Black Girls Rock! Awards. I love the message and I love Beverly Bond and her vision. I was lucky to be honored in 2011. It is truly a highlight of my life. Now I’m back to be part of this amazing night to honor the strong and powerful Yara, Issa Rae, Roberta, Suzanne, Derrica and Natalie. Let’s make history together as we come together as women of brains, beauty and in support of each other." 

The Black Girls Rock! Awards will be recorded on August 5 and are slated to air on BET on August 20.
