WATCH: 5 Tributes to Prince That Still Make Us Cry

By: Joe Hyer

April 21, 2017

It has been one year since Prince passed away.

In the days following his death, we saw tons of amazing tributes to the music legend. Tributes to Prince poured in from fans, musicians, celebrities and even politicians across the globe. So today we're remembering the musical pioneer by looking back at some of the most emotional tributes to the "Purple Rain" singer that we saw in the past year.

Justin Timberlake's poignant Instagram tribute

Justin Timberlake's Instagram post just hours after Prince's death shows the true impact that the "Raspberry Beret" singer had on so many of today's top artists. Timberlake's recollections about his childhood brought a tear to our eye.

It was Raspberry Beret. I was 4 years old. Yes, 4. I remember that I instantly loved it. "Mommy, who is that singing?" Seems weird but it's true. More than a "once in a lifetime" artist... Just a ONCE IN FOREVER ARTIST. I'm still in shock as I write this and I feel this overwhelming grief. But, we should all turn away from that and HONOR this musician that changed all of our lives, our perspectives, our feeling, our whole being. From another planet? Probably. Royalty, for sure. Us worthy..? Laughable. They say don't meet your idols... That they let you down. But, some of my greatest, funniest (yes, he was hilarious), and most prolific encounters and conversations about music came from the moments that I spent with him. It would be silly to say that he has inspired our music... It's beyond that. He's somewhere within every song I've ever written. I am sad, but I will smile when I think of every second that I had the fortune of being in his company. We have lost our greatest living musician. But his music will never die. Prince, NOTHING COMPARES... #RIPPrince

Bruno Mars' tribute at the 2017 GRAMMY Awards

Bruno Mars had the incredibly difficult task of performing a tribute to the late singer at music's biggest night earlier this year. After this performance, it's safe to say that he was definitely the perfect guy for the job.

Jennifer Hudson and the cast of The Color Purple cover "Purple Rain"

Jennifer Hudson and the cast of Broadway's The Color Purple paid tribute to Prince after their final curtain call on April 21, 2016. The beauty of Hudson's voice (and her fellow cast mates) covering this classic song can still blow us away.

Elton John's Tribute to Prince in Las Vegas

Elton John dedicated "I Guess That's Why They Call it The Blues" to Prince during a show in Las Vegas last April. "These people don't come around very often. You're a purple warrior. We loved you. We salute you, and we're going to miss you," he said during this incredible tribute.

Prince's impact even reached the White House last year.

Prince's music lives on in all of us, so we're excited that The Revolution is keeping his memory alive this spring. They'll be hitting the road on a memorial tour.

We miss you, Prince!
