Woman Gets Sued After Very (Clearly) Bad First Date

He says she was texting during a movie. She says this is cray!

Dude, simmer down! A 37-year-old man from Austin, Texas is suing a woman he went out on a date with for less than $20. So is this just the case of a bitter guy who's apparently had his first bad date? Well, kind of sounds that way.

Brandon Vezmar wants to recoup the $17.31 movie tickets he paid for because he claims his date, 15 minutes into Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, began texting. Now, for her part, the 35-year-old woman, who has asked to remain nameless, was completely unaware she was being sued for a bad date until the local paper reached out to her.

According to small claims court petition obtained by the Austin American-Statesman, Vezmar claims the woman “activated her phone at least 10-20 times in 15 minutes to read and send text messages.” He also says he asked her not to use her phone in the theater or to go outside instead. The petition says that the texting was a “direct violation” of the theater’s cell phone policy. In the below test message, reportedly sent by Vezmar, he claims her behavior was "wildly out of line" and that he's happy to put her "on the books" for the money.

The women told the newspaper in Austin that she refuses to pay Vezmar back because he took her out and that she’s not a “bad woman.”

Vezmar may soon get a taste of Karma, as the woman has said she’ll soon file a protective order against him because he contacted her sister in an effort to get his $17.31 back.

I'm no dating expert, Brandon, but it kind of sounds like two things happened here: 1) Besides the fact that you took a woman to the movies for a first date, you took a woman to a movie she probably didn't want to see. 2) You clearly didn't do a good enough job on this date to make her not want to pay attention to her phone. Just sayin'.
